Ayas Valley

The far west of the Aosta Valley territory

The Ayas Valley, from the stream with the same name that originates from the glaciers of Monte Rosa, represents the westernmost extreme of the Aosta Valley territory affected by the settlement of the Walser, which arrived from Zermatt trough the Colle del Teodulo and the Colle Superiore of Cime Bianche.

It is a valley that develops from north to south and here the Walser colonized the bucolic mountain pastures around the village of Champoluc, and then continued across the Bettaforca pss into the Gressoney Valley.
