The Rovana Valley is a lateral tributary of the Maggia Valley, which extends westward from the village of Cevio.
Initially, it develops as a single valley and then forks in the village of Cerentino into two smaller branches: the Rovana of Campo and the Rovana of Bosco, the latter leading to the picturesque village of Bosco Gurin.
Going up from Cevio and following the cantonal road immersed in suggestive nature and crossing picturesque settlements, you reach Bosco Gurin, where the road ends.
The road connection between Bosco Gurin and the Maggia Valley has only existed since 1927. In the 12th century, the Walser arrived in Bosco Gurin from the nearby Formazza Valley, following the paths of wayfarers and pilgrims, routes that have been maintained over time and are still used today.
